Who Will Weep Over The City - Part 1
Over the past two months, I have been preparing a new message series entitled "Who Will Weep Over the City?" I felt directed by the Lord to focus on the Book of Lamentation as the center of our Fall Message Series. The message is a call to those whom God has challenged, like Ezekiel, to watch over the city and address the general culture of our day. It is a challenge to the church to evaluate its position and return to God so as to be in the position to WEEP OVER THE CITY.
As we begin this new message series entitled “Who Will Weep Over The City.” We will see that in The Book of Lamentations, we are presented with the result of God removing himself from among his people. This result not only affects the church at large but the entire world.
As I read Lamentations 5, I am making a point to begin with the end to make a point, the end result. The point is that No matter what we are experiencing. No Matter how we come to be having this experience if we call to God, he will have mercy and help us.
Look at these verses in chapter five and note the progression of repentance.
He called for God to look at his situation
Lamentations 5:1 “1 Remember, O Lord, what has come upon us; Look, and behold our reproach!”
He acknowledges his error
Lamentations 5:17 “17 Because of this our heart is faint; Because of these things our eyes grow dim;”
He worships God
Lamentations 5:19 “19 You, O Lord, remain forever; Your throne from generation to generation.”
He asks for forgiveness and restoration from God
Lamentations 5:21–22 “21 Turn us back to You, O Lord, and we will be restored; Renew our days as of old, 22 Unless You have utterly rejected us, And are very angry with us!”
